here’s arguably no peak time for fashion like awards season. In the coming months, celebrities will set the tone for red-carpet fashion, giving us a reason to stay glued to their appearances. Last week, the baroque-style renderings at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards were indeed a sight for fashion lovers, and from the look of things, we can say that Black celebs and their glam team are ready for the slay ahead.

At these red carpet events, we witnessed a slew of statement-making floor-grazing numbers that married with the recent trends. These offerings featured embellishments like feathers and sequins appropriate for a glitzy night out. It was a reenactment of the expected glamorous awards season.

The Looks

Last week, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph was “outside,” and she chose to deliver sophisticated style takes while at it. The star wore a golden Jovana Louis dress to the Critics Choice Awards, which was one with her silhouette. The queen is certainly letting us have it.

Meanwhile, Quinta Brunson chose to speak fab last week as she showed out in tulles at both the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes Awards. Brunson’s ensemble for the latter event was a sleeveless Christian Siriano number. The refined dress balanced out sexy and classy, providing a downright appealing fashion moment. The intricately-pieced tulle frock intersected at the knee and bloomed. No doubt, the fit sitting on her silhouette gave custom-made another significance.

Rihanna’s rebellious streak had her ditch the red-carpet drama at the Golden Globes last week. But when you’re Rih, can you successfully remain lowkey? The star attended the event in an all-black Schiaparelli number alongside her boo A$AP Rocky. The scrunched details of the simple bodycon dress met with a glamorous fortissimo-like cape. She finished the look with a cube bag featuring silver detailing and a unique updo that held the assemblage down.
