These days, it seems athletes are challenging mainstream celebrities to a dress-off. And it appears that the athletes are winning. Last week’s best-dressed men were mostly athletes and trust us when we say they lived it up stylishly while also inspiring us with their ensembles. However, that’s not to say stars like Regé-Jean Page didn’t pull up a fashionable front on the Venice Film Festival red carpet because he did. And we have proof.

Last week, the fashion scene was dominated by athletes. Take American football player Tyrod Taylor for example. He never makes a game day outfit basic and boring. Last week, the New York Giants player closed the preseason tournaments styling a Wales Bonner cardigan and track pants over a classic white tee. It was a pairing simple, yet attractive that it caught the attention of fashion spectators. For shoes, he opted for the safest option — a pair of white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers. This fit definitely has us adding colorful cardigans to our shopping carts.

We told you that a denim-on-denim fit is making waves in men’s fashion this fall, and the sports stars agree. New York Giant player Sterling Shepard made a case for this pairing in a fashionable way. While at the preseason closing game, the sportsman rocked a matching Dior set consisting of a long sleeve button-up shirt and denim pants. For shoes, he slipped into a pair of blue and off-white Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers. With this well-put-together outfit, Shepard sure made a major flex.
