The Egypt Fashion and Design Council (EFDC) kicked off the first-ever Egypt Fashion Week (EFW) that began on 12th May and ends today 15 May.

The impressive fashion event paid tribute to Egypt’s rich heritage and civilisation under the theme of ‘Past, Present and Future,’ showcasing the country’s fashion scene.

Amidst the controversy surrounding Egypts race debates, the event took the higher moral grounds with the aim to connect the local, African, and Middle Eastern markets through design; craftsmanship; education; sustainability; production, and retail.

The opening gala was held at the Egyptian Museum, in Downtown Cairo, whith two days of fashion showcase panels, exhibitions and workshops at the Agricultural Museum, and the final day hosting a pop-up shop at Mall of Arabia.

The event was co-produced by Creative Headz and Launchmetrics, with the theme chosen to inspire designers to draw inspiration from Egypt’s rich culture and heritage while keeping in mind current global trends and anticipating future developments which was successfully executed.

The Egypt Fashion Week met it’s expectations by giving a strong platform to local fashion brands. See a few images below.
