Despite not being the capital city of Ghana, Kumasi also hosts its own fashion week. Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti Region, in southern Ghana.
It’s known as a center for Ashanti culture. In the huge, open-air Kejetia Market, stalls sell everything from glass beads to Ashanti sandals.
It has hosted it’s own fashion week for 7 years now. The event which originally began as the University’s KNUST event, KNUST Fashion Week, before altering it’s name mid 2010.
The 2023 edition hosted emerging fashion brands amongst others. Hosting a party on the 26th of May, a full day of runway shows the day after, and a fashion brunch event the next day.
