he Newton law states: “For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction.” Consequently, to evoke an impressive sartorial response, an individual’s thoughtful dressing should be miles away from regular. Last week, Black influencers and celebrities paraded in the finest raiments as they graced red carpets (including the Academy Awards), and also went about their daily activities. While some of these Black stars were bedecked in accentuating custom jewelry and others rode on the wings of minimalism, the connecting ring was that every woman laid hold on her style with a dash of jollity.

The looks

This month seemed fully booked with events like the Essence Black Women In Hollywood, pre-Oscars parties, Oscars, and Netflix SA event: A Bridgerton Affair among others. Black influencers and celebrities were constantly gracing the carpet and screens with high-end ensembles and enchanting personalities to match. If there’s any charismatic celebutante we recommend, it’s certainly star girl Zendaya. The beauty walked the Oscar red carpet in a white cropped shirt and shimmering maxi skirt both custom-made by Valentino. She then added some more sparkle thanks to stacks of Bulgari jewelry. The look was then finished off with minimal makeup and a loosely packed hairdo which allowed the outfit to have its well-deserved moment.

Talented actress Nia Long attended the Essence Black Women In Hollywood event stunning in a delightful Bronx and Banco ruffled baby doll dress, and appealing Loree Rodkin Jewelry styled with the perfect metallic gold heels. A whimsical style affair!

Over the weekend, African celebrities flooded our timelines in medieval attire for the “A Bridgerton Affair” Netflix event in South Africa. Nigerian star Toke Makinwa nailed the theme by showing up in a magnificent Gert-Johan Coetzee dress. With a befitting number and regal mannerism like that, even the queen might declare Makinwa; “the diamond of the season”.

The styles shared by Black celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous, and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.

Check out last week’s best fashion moments as seen on Black influencers and celebrities around the world...
