Guinness World Records has responded to the endeavor of Ghanaian event organizer Afua Asantewaa, who sought to establish a new record for the longest individual singing marathon. Asantewaa concluded her Guinness World Record attempt on December 29, 2023, after singing for an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 105 hours held by Indian participant Sunil Waghmare in 2012.

Following her feat, Asantewaa submitted evidence of her singing marathon to Guinness World Records on January 6, 2024. In an official statement on their X account, Guinness World Records disclosed that they had been reviewing Asantewaa’s evidence even before she requested priority service.

In rendering their verdict on the singing marathon attempt, Guinness World Records declared it a failure. However, they expressed anticipation for Asantewaa’s potential future attempts and encouraged her to pursue future records.
