Fashion doesn’t reward mundanity. New brands and designs pop up daily, and the pressure to stay ahead of the latest trends is real. Still, as celebrities stepped back into their routines last week, they seemed to forgo bold silhouettes and instead focus on tested cuts, experimenting with finishings that ranged from distressed denim to scaly patterns. The end results made for ensembles that gave off contemporary artsy vibes—and they certainly popped in photographs too.
The Looks
One of the glitziest looks last week was rapper 2 Chainz who has been drawing attention lately for his improved style game. He performed at the Vendome nightclub in Miami in a distressed fit consisting of a Who Decides War beige barren thread denim jacket with the brand’s Husk denim shorts. Amidst the muted beige fit, he opted to accessorize with a pair of Bottega Veneta sunglasses and completed the ensemble with Rick Owens high-top sneakers.
Over in Thailand, Chris Brown performed at Rolling Loud Thailand wearing a Who Decides War global grid bomber jacket over a Bottega Veneta oversized T-shirt and Gallery Department cargo shorts. He accessorized with black Prada sunglasses and completed the look with a pair of Nike x Jordan green SB Jordan 4 sneakers. A look perfect for a festival!
There were also some more stealthy, quiet-luxurious looks that won last week. Take newly signed Lakers pro basketball player, Tristan Thompson in his Balenciaga jacket and pants which were paired to perfection. The perfect mix of classic and relaxed modern was punctuated by his choice of accessories and his Rick Owen high-top sneakers.
Artistic touches helped to elevate otherwise simple looks as well. The scaly-patterned Dries Van Noten ombre sequined bomber jacket that Los Angeles Football Club player, Kellyn Acosta wore as his Week 5 fit was effortless, but the pattern took it to the next level. The jacket, which was bursting with color and energy, was complemented with a pair of Sacai shorts and Dior x Shaun Stussy loafers, the separates which were other compelling parts of the ensemble.
It was a fabulous week for both minimalists and maximalists alike. With the array of fits that celebrities wore last week, we can tell they all stepped out with the intention of making a splash. And that they did. Celebrities Minimalist Style
