In the realm of African entertainment, every hustle counts, and every opportunity is seized. With the ascent of Afrobeats and African music, a growing trend has emerged: the rise of celebrity look-alikes.

Many individuals who bear a striking resemblance to musical artists are capitalizing on their likeness, leveraging it for social media fame, stage appearances, and media features. While some artists embrace these doppelgangers as a form of publicity, others have openly opposed them. Recent events indicate that Nigerian singer Asake is clearly not fond of his look-alike.

A controversy unfolded at Ololade Ahmed’s, also known as Asake, concert in Canada on April 12, 2024. Despite the anticipation for his show, security at the event garnered attention for their treatment of a fan. A video circulating online shows a lookalike fan being forcefully ejected from the venue.

The footage depicts three security guards surrounding the Asake-lookalike, one grabbing him by the neck and pushing him out. While the cause of the altercation remains unclear, the aggressive actions of the bouncers, particularly the forceful grabbing and pushing, elicited sympathy for the fan from social media users.
