FashionGHANA.com is back, and yes we were away treating fashion enthusiasts in Accra to a fun-filled and stylish week of fashion at Accra Fashion Week, marking the pinnacle of fashion events in Ghana and possibly Africa for the year. The fashion week, held from December 13th to 17th, 2023, at the historical Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and various locations, ushered in a new era in the world of African fashion. Extraordinary designs from countries such as Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Austria, Barbados, Canada, Benin, Angola, Cameroon, Mozambique, Namibia, and more were showcased, receiving applause and standing ovations from the captivated audience.

Commencing on Wednesday, December 13th, Accra Fashion Week Designers & VIP ticket holders enjoyed a networking event called “MEET THE DESIGNER,” where designers mingled with photographers, press, influencers, and industry stakeholders. The night turned into a vibrant fashion party, with visitors dancing the night away. Notable attendees included media mogul Bola Ray, who shared his thoughts on the event.

Transitioning from one exciting evening to another, the Hollantex Swimwear Deluxe Show on December 14th, 2023, featured outstanding swimwear brands, including Rogue Wave from Angola, Mikoko Deluxe from Ghana, and Arisar from Barbados. The exceptional pieces showcased are highlighted below.

Friday, December 15th, 2023, hosted the African Fashion Summit at the British Council, a growing project by FashionGHANA.com. Speakers included Andra Hoyte from Barbados, Siwana De Azevedo (Angolan Fashion Consultant), Nana Tamakloe (CEO of Accra Fashion Week), and Kwab Asamoah (CEO of Kustom Looks). The speakers discussed various issues such as distribution, product quality, BRICS Fashion, the nature of fashion weeks in Africa compared to the West, the impact of technology on fashion, and more.

To conclude the outstanding experience, two amazing days of fashion shows took place on December 16th and 17th, 2023, at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, symbolizing the 10th edition of the show. Designers from different countries participated in both days, showcasing remarkable designs. Day 1 featured designers such as Abena Yawson, Hemade, Maria Akpess (France), Odefille, Maakwah, The Dressmakers Gh, Katie’O Eleganza, Arisar (Barbados), UdefineU, and Amor Emel (Barbados). Day 2 included designers like Ayigo, Andila Andila (Namibia), Juju Fashion (Benin), Cross Culture, Edge x Echelon (Barbados), Rogue Wave (Angola), Kustom Looks, Catherine Natang (Cameroon), Tialani (Barbados), Thee³inception (Canada), Styld by Magbrien, BeFree (Burkina Faso), Cecilia Solinas (Mozambique), and Nykwale (Canada).

The event marked Accra Fashion Week’s first daytime event, showcasing extraordinary designs in the open daylight and captivating scenery. Attendees praised this year’s set as the best they had ever witnessed, with various cultural performances, musical sessions, and crowd interactions. Many designers sold pieces immediately after their shows, marking a splendid conclusion to 10 consecutive Accra Fashion Week events and a promising leap into the next decade.
