**Chinese-Owned Supermarket in Abuja Faces Closure Over Discrimination Claims**

A Chinese-owned supermarket in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, has been closed by authorities following allegations of racial discrimination against African shoppers. The store allegedly restricts entry exclusively to individuals of Chinese descent, according to Nigeria’s consumer protection watchdog.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has initiated an investigation into the claims after widespread outrage on social media. Videos surfaced online showing Nigerians being denied entry by security personnel, with one individual stating that the supermarket was “strictly for Chinese people”. In response, several Nigerians, including former senator Shehu Sani, have called for the closure of the supermarket.

The China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), which manages the building housing the supermarket, has denied the racism allegations, emphasizing its commitment to “equality and inclusiveness”. The supermarket owner, summoned by the FCCPC, is yet to comment on the matter. The store will remain closed until she complies with the watchdog’s summons. Nigeria has a Chinese population of less than 10,000, highlighting the significance of this incident in the broader context of Sino-African relations.
